In what way does the presentation of the colours of the pills bring out the sense od despair in the insomniac?

"His head is a little interior of grey mirrors.
Each gesture flees immediately down an alley"

Could you guys please elaborate on this, and perhaps analyse other literary devices as the only thing i get is imagery analysis. Good job on the spotting the themes of light/darkness, nature/ alienation though..

Hello :o)

A poem that has a plaguing tone of helplessness and the intensity of her desperation with chronic insomnia.

In addition, I think the pessimistic and cynical descriptions of the night, "Blue black, with the much-poked periods of stars"- the lack of peace in the elements of the Night seemed to illustrate the persona's frustrations towards her illness, as she is no longer able to view and associate Night with rest.

Thanks for the commentary and knowing the background information about Sylvia Plath and this poem makes it a lot more enjoyable!
